Brazil ranks 46th in global ranking of green countries

Poor performance in preservation: Brazil is among 83 countries that best take care of their forests.

The aperece Brazil in 46th place in the new ranking of green country in the Environmental Performance Index (AND), biennial list drawn up by the Universities of Yale and Columbia.

The country added 78.90 points of 100, representing a significant improvement over the editor 2014, which occupied the 77th position. But there is still much to improve.

For all his natural exuberance, Brazil loses to Cuba, Ukraine, Argentina and Costa Rica, no novo ranking. Is that the EPI criteria, what really counts is how countries take care of their natural resources. Then the Brazilian performance is weak.

The ranking classified 180 countries based on 20 indicators spread over 9 categories: environmental health criteria; air pollution; water resources; biodiversity and habitat; natural resources; forests; Energy and Climate, among others. And each category has different weights.
