Ipaam seizes illegal fish and ships in operation "Commercial Fishing"

The Institute of Amazonas Environmental Protection (Ipaam), through the Supervisory Management, seized 1.300 kilograms of Tucunaré, 14 fishing materials, two boats and six canoes in operation "Commercial Fishing", held in Barcelos (municipality 400 kilometers from Manaus), between the days 18 e 23 from January. The operation serves illegal commercial fishing reports in the Rio Negro basin.

During the operation were addressed 25 commercial vessels, known as "geleiros", and several sport fishing tour boats. In addition to fish seizures, vessels and fitting equipment, the Ipaam applied three fines totaling R $ 99 one thousand.

According to Ipaam, the region where the operation was performed is supported by Decree 31.151/2011, which regulates fishing in the Amazon border stretches with Colombia, where fishing is allowed only with the presentation of the vessel registration issued by the Navy and by the competent body. Also required is the statement issued by the Municipal Environment.

Already the tourist boats have to submit license issued by Ipaam to have access to this region of the Black River basin.
