Public Hearing will discuss the situation of dockworkers dismissed by the Port Chibatão

More of 450 workers were laid off in Manaus.

This morning (11) Councilman Álvaro Campelo (PP) attended a meeting with members of the Union of Dockers and Workers Estivas of Amazonas State Ores - Setemeam, to know the reality of the category after dispensing over 300 professional and 250 auxiliary, some over 20 years working in Port Chibatão, In Manaus.

According to the president of the Union, Claudovaldo Barreto, no dia 16 December 2015, all were released from activities in port and replaced by professional contractors through a cooperative, based on preliminary decision of Justice. The question will be judged next day 18, but the union will try convencerr the judiciary that the measure taken by the company hurts the legislation for this occupation.

Councilman Álvaro Campelo said he was extremely concerned about the workers of the report and the delicate situation in which they find dozens of families who depend on the work of each to survive.

"I understand that a great injustice has been committed against this category. Our next step is a public hearing to which we will invite, Besides the unions that are represented here, also the Federal Public Ministry, the Port, Workers' Federations, the IRS, and the Port itself Chibatão, and seek a solution that meets mainly, the interests of dockworkers "said Councilman.

The hearing date will be scheduled on Monday, When they restart the legislative work at City Hall, said Álvaro Campelo.

The meeting also was attended by the vice-president of the Union, Clodomir Barreto, repreentante of the OAB of Trade Union Affairs Committee, sectional Amazon, lawyer Rodrigo Waughan; Isis Tavares, president of the Central Workers and Workers of Brazil - CTB; Eliana Teixeira Assis, Director of Legal Affairs of the Union of Workers in the State of Amazonas Education - Sinteam, and Orlando Muniz, President of the Union of Port Workers of the Amazon - Sindiporto.
