CMM passes bill authorizing schools to work on weekends

The Municipality of Manaus (CMM) approved and sent to the mayor's sanction, Arthur Neto (PSDB), on Tuesday (23), Bill No. 153/2014, which provides for the use, community, of school buildings in the city on weekends and holidays.

The project aims to contribute to improving the quality of education, and promoting social inclusion to help young people not to engage in illegal practices. The proposal is by the vice-chairman of the Education, Councilman Teacher Samuel (PHS).

After sanctioned by the Municipal Executive, will be guaranteed the use of school buildings belonging to the municipality in idle periods (and Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) the local community by representing non-profit organizations.

"I'm happy with the approval of our project, which then sanctioned will mean a victory of many communities. The use of the facilities for the development of educational activities, cultural, sports and initial training for work and income generation will certainly be a major breakthrough for our city ", Councilman emphasized.

According to the project, schools can always be used to justified the discretion of school management, in agreement with the Parent-Teacher Association and with the condition that do not conflict with the planned activities. It is also necessary according to the proposal, request prior authorization from the direction of the teaching unit for local use.

"Many of these learning units spend their weekends and holidays idle can be places of interaction between Community, and learning through social projects. Fair enough to allow its use by the community ", concluded Samuel.
