Manaus will host special Rock in Rio event, the Amazon Live

Mayor Arthur Neto (PSDB) announced yesterday (4), in their official facebook page the event 'Live Amazon’ the Rock in Rio in the capital of Amazonas.

According to the publication, Manaus was chosen by Rock in Rio to host the event, which is a socio-environmental project, which aims to draw world attention to the impacts of global warming.

The organization plans to plant 1 million trees in the Amazon and chose Manaus. The goal is to plant 3 million trees by 2019.

The Amazon Live is scheduled to take place on 27 August and entry will be free to. There will be two presentations, one with Placido Domingo and the Brazilian Symphony Orchestra (OSB) and another with the singer Ivete Sangalo. Two stages will be set up, one in Rio Negro and one in Ponta Negra.

The mayor recalled that the event is private enterprise and that the City has supported giving the space for performing the same.

Arthur completed the publication: “I have been able to realize that some malicious people are trying to politicize the issue. I am saddened by these attacks. They should be happy to Manaus be chosen and honored at such a difficult economically for the country. It is the class that twists for bad things to happen. Rock in Rio is welcome to Amazon, as well as any other company that wanted to invest in our territory. The Amazon Live is already a success, mainly invest in reforestation of our region”.
