Maria Silvia Bastos will be the new president of BNDES

She was the first female president of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), between 1999 e 2002.

The Presidency confirmed on Monday, 16, the executive Maria Silvia Bastos will be the new president of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES), replacing Luciano Coutinho.

The announcement comes after President Michel Temer in exercise (PMDB) suffer criticism that there was no appointed women to integrate the first step of his government.

Maria Silvia has a doctorate in economics and was the first woman to hold the presidency of Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN), between 1999 e 2002.

It was also Secretary of Finance of Rio de Janeiro in the government of former Mayor Cesar Maia (1993-1996). The executive was also a researcher at the Brazilian Institute of Economics of the Getulio Vargas Foundation (IBRE / FGV) and partner consulting, in addition to working in the Municipal Olympic Company (EOM) in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
