With a little more than 20 days to the opening of the Olympic Games, negotiations for the federal government bancasse the opening and closing parties failed and now the Rio 2016 Committee tries to close agreements for the supply of energy and gasoline, as a way to avoid expenses.

The Committee Rio 2016 Organizing confirmed that the idea of a government's participation in the opening is “discarded” and also confirms the new negotiation for the supply in other areas.

The inability of organizers to register a higher income from ticket sales and advertising led the charge last month to seek the federal government to try that expenses were covered by public money.

One of the ideas was that state linked to tourism will foot the opening party, estimated at approximately R $ 280 millions.

But the negotiations failed. The organizers insisted that there would be no way to change the schedule or place advertising, which hampered the search for an argument that could justify public spending.

The new strategy has been sponsoring exchanges for goods.

Two negotiations have been conducted in the last days: the search for the supply of gasoline for 4 thousand cars in the event and the energy supply for the Olympic Village and the competition venues.

Thus, companies like Petrobras could come in as sponsors of the event. No COI, the entity also anticipated payments in the hope of helping to close accounts.
