Man arrested with grenade and firearms arsenal in Manaus

The offender states that received R $ 1.500,00 Garrison weapons.

A man of 31 years was arrested late on Thursday (7) for illegal possession of firearm, in the neighborhood Santa Luzia, South Zone of Manaus. Among the weapons seized from the offender was rifles, grosso caliber weapons, ammunition and a grenade. Or weaponry was used by traffickers, according to police.

The suspect was arrested by police from the 2nd Company Interactive Community (IDPF) as a team unit was attending another complaint on site. The material was seized at the home of man.

According to the aspirant Benayon, 2nd IDPF, the man hid the weapons in the roof lining. “We received a tip that a fugitive was hiding in the neighborhood in question. We sent a car to the site, but we could not find it. During this search, However, we face another suspect. He took us to his home and gave us weapons”, said the aspirant.

The captain of the 2nd IDPF, Alberto Neto, account that weapons were retained used to carry out killings in the capital of Amazonas. “We know that most homicides in Manaus have to do with drug trafficking, and the suspect told vaguely that this weaponry was used for trafficking”, He added the captain.

Among the weapons seized, are two rifles, a submachine gun, caliber handgun 38 and other restricted weapons police Military and Civil, plus a large amount of ammunition of various calibres intact. “Also we apprehend a grenade, which was used in the drug war and against our own police”, said the captain.

The captain said that the weapons will be forwarded to the Civil Police for the completion of the investigation. The offender will be referred to the 1st District Integrated Police (DIP) and charged with illegal possession of a restricted firearm.
