Lula, Delcídio and five become defendants for attempting to obstruct the Lava Jato

All involved are accused of trying to prevent Nestor Cervero signing tipoff agreement.

The Federal Court accepted today (29) complaint lodged by federal prosecutors in the Federal District (MPF-DF) against former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, former senator Amaral Delcídio, and five accused for the crime of obstruction of investigations of Operation Lava Jato.

With the decision, Lula and Delcídio pass the condition of defendants in criminal proceedings, beyond the BTG André Esteves Bank former controller, Diogo Ferreira, former head of cabinet Delcídio; the businessman José Carlos Bumlai and his son, Mauritius Bumlai, and the lawyer Edson Ribeiro.

All involved are accused of trying to prevent the former director of Petrobras' International Area Nestor Cervero signing tipoff according awarded the task force of investigators from Operation Lava Jato.

Last week, MPF reiterated the complaint against the accused, that had already been reported to the Supreme Court (STF), the Attorney General of the Republic, Rodrigo Janot.

However, no dia 24 of June, Minister Teori Zavascki referred the case to the Federal Court in Brasilia, understanding that the alleged attempt to hinder the investigation occurred in the federal capital. Besides that, with the cancellation of the Amaral Delcídio mandate, no one involved remained with special jurisdiction in Court.
