Michel Temer takes over as president and will serve until 2018

Possession was soon marked after the Senate decide to approve the impeachment of Rousseff.

The plenary session of Congress just to induct Michel Temer as president. He was already in office temporarily from the removal of Dilma Rousseff as a result of the opening of impeachment her, in May this year. Possession was given by the president of Congress, Renan Calheiros (PMDB-AL).

The ceremony took place on the Senate floor, which was crowded with senators, MEPs, former parliamentarians and guests. Temer read oath of commitment to defend and respect the Constitution. Then, It was read the term possession.

Possession was soon marked after the full Senate decide for preventing the president and Temer be notified that definitely would assume the presidency until 31 December 2018, when the term ends.

Michel Temer is legal expert in constitutional law and served as parliamentarian for about 25 years, between assumed mandates as elected and alternate. He was president of the House of Representatives three times and was elected as vice president with Dilma Rousseff 2010 and then re-elected in 2014.
