The President of the Olympic Committee of Ireland, Patrick Joseph Hickey, It was transferred today (19) to the penitentiary complex of Bangu, in the west of Rio de Janeiro. Hickey, who is also member of the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee (WATCH) and the Coordination Committee of the Rio Games 2016, He was arrested on Wednesday (17) on suspicion of illegal ticket sales.
He was admitted to the Hospital Samaritano, in Barra da Tijuca, from the day he was arrested, since it became ill at the time the police officers gave under arrest, the hotel where he was staying.
According to the state Department of Penitentiary Administration, Hickey is stuck in Jailhouse José Frederico Marques, one prison screening unit known as Bangu 10.
Hickey is investigated along with five other directors of the British company THG, specializing in the hospitality and fans reselling tickets, and three executives of the Irish company Pro10 Team, authorized by the IOC to resell tickets for Rio 2016. They are suspected of selling them above the allowed price tickets.
