Action for Life takes information about prevention population to suicide on the beach of Ponta Negra

An action by the appreciation of life mobilized psychiatry and psychology professionals, area students, public defenders and the whole area Psychosocial Team Amazonas Public Defender (ECD-AM), not Sunday (18), on the beach promenade of Ponta Negra, west of Manaus. The action is part of the Yellow September schedule, suicide prevention campaign by Psychiatric Association Amazonense (MONKEY), in partnership with the DPE-AM, Federal Council of Medicine and Psychiatry Brazilian Association.

During the action, goers area received pamphlets with guidelines on ways to identify behaviors where there is risk of suicide and also information of psychologists and psychiatrists about the main causes of suicide and ways to prevent these causes. According to the AAP, Cleber Nayef, but of 90% of suicides are related to mental disorders, between major depression and those associated with alcohol and other drugs.

According to the public defender Ricardo Trinidad, campaign coordinator for the DPE-AM, the institution decided to support the Yellow September because it is a matter of public health. "The Ombudsman has a dedicated core health issues, focused on legal assistance to ensure access to health care to needy patients requiring hospitalization, drugs or treatments which, For some reason, They are not being met by the State ", said Trinity, emphasizing that the campaign is also carried out in order to break the taboo surrounding suicide, seeking to discuss the issue and encourage prevention.

During the action in Ponta Negra, Psychosocial area team conducted visits of people who asked for guidance on how to seek help in cases of mental disorders. The meetings were held on the bus DPE-AM, which is used in the institution roaming actions.

The actions of the campaign began in Manaus last 10 of September, World Suicide Prevention Day, date set by the World Health Organization (WHO) to highlight the need to prevent this evil that affects thousands of people. No Brasil, it is estimated that there are about 11 thousand suicides a year.
