A total of 857 toys was seized with irregularities 30 shops of Manaus center, during the special operation "Children's Day 2016.", held on the morning of Thursday, 29 of September, the Office of Weights and Measures Amazon (Ipem-AM). The operation will continue until Wednesday (5) the commercial centers of the capital and aims to verify that the toys meet the technical regulations established by the National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Inmetro).
altogether, the Ipem-AM supervised 25.710 products that first day of operation and notified two companies. The fined establishments in operation will have a period of ten days to submit invoice proving the origin of the product and will be subject to the penalties provided by law, as fines ranging from R $ 300 a R$ 1,5 million.
"We showed the problem and the rule of law within the establishment, and if there is disagreement, with toys that have been imported without any assessment of Inmetro, these products will be seized and will be issued notice of violation ", He commented the CEO of Ipem-AM, Márcio André Britto.
The inspection in the establishments of the central area of the city came after complaints to Ipem-AM on stores with products that were defective. Márcio André Britto explains that people need to pay attention to basic requirements while shopping. "Parents should note on the packaging mandatory information, as data from the manufacturer or importer, if the information is in Portuguese, the age of the child and indication, mainly, the identifying stamp of conformity Inmetro ".
In 2015, the operation supervised 15.199 products 181 shops and seized 236 toys. Among the irregular found were the lack of seal in toys and lack of required information, such as age, company data and product manufacturer.
