Amazon public network project will be presented at the Fair Northeast Science and Technology, in RecifeThe fair will take place between 27 September and October 1, in Recife, Pernambuco.
Students Denyson Shale Reinaldo da Silva and Karoline Oliveira Oliveira, both 16 years and students of 2nd year of high school Time Education Center Integral / Ceti Mr Gláucio Gonçalves, located in the city of Parintins (distant 369 kilometers from Manaus), They will represent the public state of Amazonas in Northeastern Fair of Science and Technology with the project "Mathematical modeling and teenage pregnancy". The fair will take place between 27 September and October 1, in Recife, Pernambuco.
Coordinated by school math teacher, Tacilene fields, the project received the accreditation to attend the national fair from the work award at the Fair of the Amazon Sciences (FCA) in 2015. During the school's participation in the event, the Denyson and Karoline students won, addition credential, the gold medal for the design, in the "hard sciences".
According to the school management, Professor Francimary Macedo, that will accompany the students on the trip to Recife, this is the second time that the school can credential to attend the Fenecit. Last year, with the project entitled "Heritage Education through the study of history in Parintins memories", the school won the prominent award at the fair.
The goal of the project, according to the student Denyson, It is to apply mathematical concepts and place in a social context, as teenage pregnancy. "Our project aims to highlight the importance of the study of mathematics in society. Through mathematical modeling, We did a research that proposes reveal how is the pregnancy percentage in adolescence in Brazil and ascertain its causes and consequences, entering this information into the daily lives of students, which are subject to such situations ", He explained the student.
For student Karoline, the project had a positive impact on the fair Amazon Sciences and is expected to also reach a good result in Fenecit. "In addition to research in the classroom, visited teenagers who have gone through this situation or are living this reality and we had the opportunity to mature our knowledge on the scientific work. From the results obtained at the fair Amazon Sciences, our project had a great impact, It reconciles the subjects worked in the classroom with a big impact theme in society, that is why, I think we have a good chance of achieving even better results in Recife ", said Karoline.
Administered by the State Department of Education and Teaching Quality (SEDUC), the Ceti Gláucio Gonçalves is responsible for serving 800 students from elementary and high schools and has excelled in the quality of education, achieving excellent results in competitions at national and international level, including participation in the fair ExpoCiencias Latinoameticana (ESI-History), in the city of Mazatlan, not Mexico, competition which won gold medal students.
Besides that, students also represented Brazil at the 8th International Tournament of Young Mathematicians (8th International Tournament of Young Mathematicians-ITYM) which was held in St. Petersburg, in Russia.
