SSP performs "Operation Pescador 11" to fight theft with motorcycles in the south of Manaus

The Secretariat of Public Security of the Amazon (SSP-AM) performed, in the afternoon and evening of Thursday (22), the 11th stage of "Operation Pescador" in order to combat theft crimes with motorcycles in neighborhoods of the South Zone of Manaus. The operation was carried out in Japiim neighborhoods, Cachoeirinha and Petropolis.

According to a survey of SSP-AM, 50,69% of burglaries in Manaus is practiced by people using motorcycles, followed by theft walk and car, so the operation aimed to suppress the action of the assailants on motorcycles, identify suspects and provide greater security to the population.

According to the Public Security Secretary of Amazonas, Sergio Fontes, actions intended to take the ease of offenders who change the routine of the city. "We have to act upon our necks and theft with the use of motorcycles account for about 50% cases in Manaus, so this phase of Operation Pescador want to curb this crime and identify potential offenders, increasing the sense of security among the population ", he explained.

In the three neighborhoods approaches were carried out 262 people, 91 motorcycles, three of which were seized by irregularities in the documentation, and two buses. The result was considered satisfactory, according to the Secretary Sergio Fontes. "We have achieved our goal, we know that it causes a crackdown on crime, greater tranquility to citizens and we will continue the work, other places where there are motorcycles with theft records should receive the shares ", said.

At this stage of the operation were involved 60 servidores da SSP-AM, among police officers, Military and federal, with 14 disfigured vehicles, scattered in all three districts that received Operation. Besides that, was acting servers Robbery Police and Robbery of Vehicles (DERFV) and Amazonas State Traffic Department (DMV-AM), which held notifications to motorcyclists undocumented.

"Operation Pescador" had its first phase initiated in July 2015, with continuous actions of repressive character to curb robberies and thefts in all areas of Manaus.
