Supreme makes Gleisi Hoffmann and her husband defendants in the operation Lava Jato

The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court (STF), composed of five ministers, agreed unanimously on Tuesday (27) complaint lodged by the Attorney General's Office (PGR) against Senator Gleisi Hoffmann (PT-PR) and her husband, former Minister Paulo Bernardo, in Operation Lava Jato.

Gleisi and Bernardo are investigated for alleged receipt of 1 million reais of kickback signed contracts between contractors and Petrobras. The money would have been used to fuel the campaign of her in 2010.

The Supreme Court also accepted the complaint against businessman Ernesto Rodrigues Kugler, on the double. Thereby, the three defendants go to the condition in the process. They are accused for the crimes of bribery and money laundering.

Gleisi is the first senator to become a defendant in Lava Jato. As the process was not dismembered, all three respond to the process in the Supreme.

The rapporteur of the Lava jet on STF, Minister Teori Zavascki, It was the first to vote for the receipt of the complaint. He was accompanied by the ministers Dias Toffoli, Celso de Mello, Ricardo Lewandowski and Gilmar Mendes.
With the complaint accepted by the Supreme Court, begins the evidence gathering phase and testimonies of defense witnesses and prosecution.

According to the indictment, the three, “acting freely, conscious and voluntary ", asked for and received R $ 1 million diverted from the corruption scheme that worked in Petrobras.

The money would have been directed to election campaign Gleisi in four installments of R $ 250 one thousand.
The transfer would be carried out, segundo a PGR, through front companies money changer Alberto Youssef contracted by Petrobras to Rodrigues firms.

Also according to the PGR, the funds were released by the former director Paulo Roberto Costa Supply, whose objective would be to get political support Gleisi Hoffmann and Paul Bernardo to stay in office.
