Federal police make raid on illegal movie sites
Five people were arrested and a man is on the run. This is the second phase of Operation Blackbeard.
The Federal Police unleashed today (13) an operation to disrupt organization which provided movies on the Internet without paying copyright. Five people were arrested and a man is on the run.
This is the second phase of Operation Blackbeard. They have been met 12 search and seizure warrants, issued by the 1st Federal Court of Sorocaba, in Sao Paulo, Minas Gerais, Paraíba and Pernambuco.
With the help of Interpol, os sites Armagedomfilmes.biz, Filmesonlinegratis.net and air were removed Megafilmeshd20.org. Together, they provide what 11 thousand titles in streaming, that is, to watch online.
The three sites received 768 million visits per year, with access starting from Brazil, Portugal, Japan and other countries. According to PF, sites could revenue from advertising "comparable to large legitimate portals".
The investigated account for criminal organization to constitute crimes, with imprisonment of three to eight years and a fine, and copyright infringement, with penalty of two to four years and fine.
In the first phase of Blackbeard operation, in November 2015, Mega Movies HD site was taken down by also operating illegally in the country.
