BNDES signs agreement with Ibama to support surveillance in the Amazon

The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) signs on Thursday (3), at the Ministry of the Environment, in Brasilia, Amazon Fund loan agreement with the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (Ibama). The funds will be used to support the transportation logistics of environmental monitoring activities and control of deforestation in the Amazon.

The project will ensure the enforcement actions of the environmental agency for a period of 15 months, with a total budget of R $ 56,3 millions, which will be used to pay for the provision of air and land transport rental services used in the field in enforcement actions.

The supported activities will be concentrated in the regions that suffer most deforestation pressure, according to alerts issued by the Deforestation Detection System in the Amazon in Real Time (DETER), the National Institute for Space Research (INPE).
