Arthur expects Jose Melo go back on the decision to withdraw tax-free bus companies

The Mayor of Manaus, Artur Virgilio Neto, again criticized the government of Amazonas by the withdrawal of public transport subsidy as VAT and property taxes of the public transport companies. Arthur attended the reading ceremony of the annual message to the opening session of the Municipal Council of Manaus (CMM) in this Monday (06).

During the ceremony, a group of students came to make a protest against the increase in bus fare and was removed from the site.

The withdrawal of the tax exemption was announced by the Governor of the State, Jose Melo, after the Manaus Prefecture adjusted bus ticket of R $ 3 to R $ 3,30.

“We'll have to talk a lot about further adjustment, the expectation is that the governor back off that idea of ​​not subsidize”, said the mayor toucan.

Last week, in a statement, the governor said that maintaining the subsidy was subject to no adjustment of passage. In this ocasion, Melo cited promises made by Artur during the campaign, in which categorically stated that the rate would not suffer readjustments, and questions: “This was a simple figure of speech or an electoral political swindle?”, and complete: “It seems that was electoral political swindle, the people being deceived in their good faith”.
