Vaccination against yellow fever has permanent display in the Amazon

During the month of January there was an increase in demand for immunization against yellow fever offered by the Unified Health System (THEIR). Because of the outbreak of cases in the states of Minas Gerais, Maranhão and Espírito Santo. Manaus registered 63% growth in the number of doses applied, over the same period last year.

All the 62 municipalities of Amazonas are the Ministry of Health of the list of areas with standing recommendation of permanent vaccination against yellow fever. Until Friday (3), when the survey was released, the number of confirmed deaths from the disease reached 60 no Brasil. Of this total, 53 occurred in Minas Gerais, four in the Holy Spirit and three in São Paulo. Routine vaccination is offered in 19 the country states with recommendation for immunization. All people living in these places should take two doses of vaccine lifelong.

In Manaus, City Hall says that the city is not at risk of yellow fever outbreak, as has been happening in the state of Minas Gerais. According to the municipal secretary of Health, Homero de Miranda Neto Lion, there is a prevention work that is carried out by the Municipal Health, especially with regard to vaccination, offered in 182 Basic Health Units located in all areas of the city.
