Senate approves in 1st round end of the privileged forum for all authorities

Remain with the forum prerogative only the presidents of the Republic, do Supremo Tribunal Federal, House and Senate.

The full Senate approved yesterday (26), by 75 votes in favor and none against, in first round, the Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) which finishes with the special privileges by function prerogative. Or text, reported by Senator Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP), determines the end of the so-called privileged forum for all Brazilian authorities for common criminal offenses.

Remain with the forum prerogative only the presidents of the Republic, do Supremo Tribunal Federal, House and Senate. The original text provided for the forum Randolfe loss for all authorities, but he chose to accept this amendment safeguards the presidents of powers to ensure the vote in the Committee on Constitution and Justice (CCJ) this morning and plenary late on Wednesday.

The article also allows the arrest of members of Congress convicted on appeal in public offenses. Today, they are judged by the Supreme Court (STF) and can only be arrested after final conviction of the Court.
