According to estimates from the National Cancer Institute (Inca), this year should be recorded 61,2 thousand new cases of prostate cancer in Brazil. Ministry of Health indicate that 14.484 people died from the disease in the country 2015. No Brasil, prostate cancer is the second most common among men, behind only non-melanoma skin cancer.
According to the Inca, prostate cancer tumor is considered elderly, since about three-quarters of cases in the world occur from 65 years. the Brazilian Society of Urology data (SBU) show that 20% of patients are diagnosed in advanced stages of the disease, which makes the mortality rate reaches 25% two patients.
The Inca warns that some of these tumors can grow quickly, spreading to other organs. The majority, however, It grows so slowly, taking about 15 years to reach 1 cm³, that does not quite give signals during the life, or threaten human health.
In September, the Inca launched a booklet that deals with general aspects of prostate cancer and discusses possibilities and limits for early detection, factors that may increase the risk of disease, as well as signs and symptoms of tumor.
