Belém decrees emergency situation by the arrival of Venezuelan Indians

Belém Prefecture declared on the afternoon of Monday (16) social emergency due to heavy migration process of the indigenous people of Venezuela Warao ethnic capital to Pará.

Among the five municipalities that have received more indigenous Venezuelans, Bethlehem was the last to seek help from the Federal Government. Mass migration of the Warao to the capital of Pará began 10 months and, according to the latest survey of the city, but of 200 Indians living in the city.

In July 2017, about R $ 700 thousand were deposited in the accounts of Manaus prefecture by the Ministry of Social Development (MDS) so that the city dealt with the case of Warao. In March 2018, MDS also authorized a transfer of $ 1,08 million to the coffers of Roraima, divided into two parts, for the municipalities of Boa Vista and Pacaraima.

The Belém City Hall stressed that all indigenous Warao, already in Belém, They were vaccinated, received consultations, treatments and even hospitalization. The group receives, still, Street office of the permanent visits of the Municipal Health Secretariat (Sesma).

The council is also offering 100% spaces for children Warao, from 0 a 10 years, with pedagogical project already developed by the Department of Education (Semec).
