STF removes Moro tipoff stretch on Lula and Mantega

The Second Chamber of the Supreme Court (STF) decided today (14) overturn the decision of the individual Edson Fachin minister who decided to send one of the whistleblowers testimonials Odebrecht against former President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and former Minister Guido Mantega to the 13th Federal Court in Curitiba, led by Federal Judge Sergio Moro.

By 3 votes to 1, the Gilmar Mendes ministers, Dias Toffoli and Ricardo Lewandowski understood that one of the statements in which there are quotes to Lula and Mantega names unrelated to the investigations of Lava Jato, presided over by magistrate. Requests to remove the jurisdiction of Moro were requested by the defense of the accused.

According to one of whistleblower testimonies awarded to former executives of Odebrecht, payments were made to Guido Mantega, that would have been used by him in the election campaign of his party. The testimonies also cite alleged personal relationship Emilio Odebrecht with former President Lula.

With the decision, the testimonials denunciations leave the 13th Federal Court in Curitiba and will be divided between the Electoral Court and the Federal Brasilia.
